For the firsttime in Germany, thanksto the esserbus
®-PLus, the certified and
approved operation ofaddressable, loop-powered alarm deviceson the ringbus
together with fire detectorsand other devicesispossible. The esserbus
®-PLus
enablesalarm devicesto be powered directly, tolerantofshortcircuitsand wire
breaks, from the 2-wire analog loop. In other words, allparticipants, including
alarm devices, are connected directlyto the bus. In an alarm situation, the ring
loop increasesthe voltage to 42 voltsand thusprovidesthem with the necessary
power. An alarm can therefore be signalled using completelynew (wiring) paths:
reliably, economicallyand in conformitywith the relevantstandards.
An additionaland unique qualitycharacteristicofthe esserbus
®-PLusisthe syn-
chronousalarm signalling function. Allsweep and intermittenttonesare therefore
no longer distorted unrecognisablybythe irregular emission ofseveraltonesin the
fire compartment.
For a building sector affected byfire esserbus
®-PLusmeansthe alarm signalisnot
compromised untilthe device itselfisdestroyed byfire. Thanksto the loop technol-
ogy, the warning devicesin the unaffected fire compartmentsremain functional,
even withoutfireproofwiring.

Atpresentallinternalalarm devicesmustbe activated in conformitywith various
installation standardsthrough monitored circuits. In addition, wiring thatbridges
more than one fire section, mustsatisfythe requirementsfor fire resilience. With
conventionalresources, thiscan onlybe achieved bythe costlyinstallation ofa
separate power unitfor each fire compartment.
The onlyexception: the wiring system isrealised with powered loop technologyand
the alarm devicesare shortcircuitand open circuit-tolerant. In thiswayitispossi-
ble to deliver sustained operation in a fire situation.

forhigh-currentdevices,
such asalarm sounders.

System components
The addressable
base sounder
hastwo functions. Itservesasa fullyfunctional
alarm device, which generatesa uniform 360°sound pressure, and also asa mount-
ing base for Series9200 fire detectors. Like the base sounder, the addressable
system sounder
in red and white containsan isolator. Both the base sounder and
the system sounder are fullyintegrated busdevices.
